Description

Bloomberg is an online financial service that provides quotes and technical analysis of U.S. and international securities. Bloomberg Professional Service is real-time financial information network. This online database provides flexible access to the complete Bloomberg financial database for use in custom applications, real time prices, history, news, analytics and research for global financial markets. Bloomberg collects data for 3.7 million securities across all markets worldwide. The markets covered include government and corporate bonds, mortgage, money-market, indices, currency, commodities and equities. More information can be found on the vendor site.

File Descriptions

Bloomberg Professional is a continuous data feed service that includes real-time (with a 20 minute delay), historical and descriptive data, analytics and news on a number of markets and securities.

The database includes information from all global regions, including exchange-traded and "over-the-counter" markets. Data includes complete descriptive information, volume, and output from Bloomberg analytics such as beta, moving averages, money flows, volatilities, option sensitivity, deliverability, and others. Fundamental data contains earnings, balance sheets, cash flow and debt/equity analysis, rations, and public filings.

The Bloomberg Professional is a suite of products. "Open Bloomberg" terminals allow users to view and print information; it also allows saving screens.

Access & Installation

1. Faculty Lab (Room 304)

  • 1 terminal- Desktop PC
  • Mendoza IT Educational Technology Group and Research Technology Group
  • Mendoza faculty and research staff

2. Mendoza IT (Room 321)

  • 1 terminal- Notebook
  • Mendoza IT Educational Technology Group
  • Classroom instruction (can be requested by Mendoza faculty)

3. Mahaffey Business Library (Room L001) 

  • 10 terminals [9 (brand new!) Desktop PCs; 1 Notebook]
  • Mahaffey Business Library Staff
  • Mendoza students, faculty, and staff
    • 1 terminal dedicated to Kenneth R. Meyer; any Meyer Fellowship recipient will have priority use of the terminal
    • 7 terminals located in the Mahaffey Business Library’s small room which facilitates group instruction
    • 1 notebook that serves as 1) a backup for classroom instructional use and 2) a terminal in the Mahaffey Business Library when not in use in classroom

The Bloomberg login information is available with the terminal, or you can have your own Bloomberg Login.

* There is no remote access to Bloomberg.
